Once again Finals Weekend was a huge success with some amazing tennis thrilling the crowds. Two of the finals went to a nail

biting three sets, with Lisa Christie & Peter Mayell winning the Handicap Mixed Doubles and Ian & Vernon winning the Men’s Vets Doubles in the final set. The Men’s Singles Final was captivating with excellent tennis played by both John and Clark (I’m sure the ball was travelling faster than the speed of light at times) and ended with a 6-3, 6-4 win for John. All the finals were exciting to watch and all played in good spirit. A fuller report will be found in the Autumn Newsletter.

The weather was kind to us too – the rain started falling as soon as the last point of the last final was played on Saturday and well after all finals were finished on Sunday.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped over the weekend, baking cakes, making teas and coffees, washing up, umpiring and helping to set up and clear away – not forgetting the BBQ! Also, a huge ‘Thank you’ to all the spectators who turned up to support the club. Without all this support Finals Weekend wouldn’t be so successful.
